WHAT TREATMENTS ARE AVAILABLE ON THE NHS?
In Scotland, NHS dental examinations are free of charge for everyone. NHS patients, who pay for their dental treatment, pay 80% of the treatment costs (including x-rays), up to a maximum of £384 per course of treatment.
WHO GETS FREE NHS TREATMENT?
Everyone under 18
Patients aged 18 and in full time education
Mothers who have had a baby in the last 12 months
Patients in receipt of certain benefits
If you are in receipt of any benefits, please bring proof of exemption along to your initial appointment
WHAT TREATMENTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE ON THE NHS?
Not all dental treatment is available on the NHS. 'Cosmetic' treatment such as white fillings on the back teeth and tooth coloured crowns on back teeth are not available under the NHS but we can provide you with private treatment should you require it. Your dentist will advise what treatments are available to you under the NHS.
